"I never would've imagined where my love for music would take me."
Meet The Lauren Lo
I would always put on shows as a child…dancing around, singing, and demanding an audience. When I was in the 4th grade, I had the opportunity to try out for the Voices of Praise Gospel Choir, and I said to my grandmother, "If I can't be a soprano, then I don't want to sing!" I know… kids say the darndest things. Fast forward a couple months...I landed the part of Annie in the school musical, and my principal, took me to audition for the American Girl, Circle of Friends, musical anddddd I got a call back!!
Fast forward, a few more years... I continued to pursue classical music and theater at Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School, where I sang in the elite musical group, Acappella Choir. Here I learned to read music and received Classical vocal training. My sophomore year, I represented my school in the IMEA music competition and got raving reviews. In 2008, I sang with the Advanced Chorus for Disney World's Epcot Christmas celebration, in different languages.
I then attended the prestigious UIUC and found a musical family, Black Chorus. Here I sang countless hymns, anthems, field hollers, and other African American music like "My First Love" performed by Diana Ross and Lionel Ritchie.
It wasn't until I graduated college, that I began pursuing modeling. I landed a televised modeling opportunity on ABC News’s Windy City Live, my first year in the modeling world! I have since partnered with StyleMuse.com, Shein, Stay Golden Cosmetics, ColourPop, Effortless Style Studio, Cozy Earth Bamboo, and DeLorne Bridal, to name a few.
I am an Indie recording artist and released my first R&B single, Half Crazy, in 2018! Since then I have been a featured vocalist for Wutshappenin Babybrutha on their last three albums: Accumilation, Wutshappenin, and All Day Funkshine. Black Vinyl and Hot Chocolate, two tracks that I'm featured on, have received raving reviews from live shows and streams. I also sing with Layla Frankel, one of Chicago's own Jazz and Bluegrass artists. She and I have graced multiple stages across the Chicagoland area. In the past, I also sang with Melissa Clark, for events like the 79th Street Renaissance Fest and Pearl Fest; and have opened up for Jagged Edge and Avery Sunshine to name a few.
I now have a multifaceted empire that I have coined, Sweet'nLo!
