Betty Boop Anyone??

I'm really into makeup, but I can never seem to order the limited edition collections from MAC. I was dying to get the Selena lippies, after the re-release, but I've had no such luck. I have friends who work for MAC, but I know how it is having everyone asking for the perks of your blood, sweat, and tears dedicated to clocking in; and I digress.

I'm a nightowl, which also contributes to my impulse shopping. I usually buy things once I'm off work and trying to figure out why I'm still awake... So this week, I got the text notification about the Betty Boop lippie that launched, and I love me some her! I also saw one of my IG crushes, Ourfazanali, swatch it on Snapchat, and I had to have this super-blue-based red.

The packaging was SUPER CUTE! I love the simple black background ofthe lipstick box, covered with the classic Betty Boop image. I also love that they gave the box a glossy finish; it definitely fits the Betty Boop character theme. I do wish that Mac would have decorated the lipstick tube with Betty's face, or her name in a super curly,red, font. I think that would've blown it out of the park for me.

I have Ruby Woo and Russian Red, but these two are very different from the Betty Boop Red. Russian Red has a slightly deeper tone to it, and seems more matte than Betty's Red. Ruby Woo is one of a kind, with its super, retro matte finish and bright-blue based tone. It also takes a little more effort to put it on because of it's thick consistency.Don't get me wrong, a little elbow grease and a few more minutes with a concealer brush wouldn't make me trade that color for the world. Betty Boop's red glides on easily, and tends to have a little sheen. It's nowhere near a gloss, but it's what some MUA's would call a comfortable matte. If you don't like to feel like your lips were dusted in red baby powder, you'll like this formula.

Overall, I love the Betty Boop lippie. I've worn it the last few days to work, and I've gotten so many compliments. I'm a classic girl, and I believe every woman needs a perfect red. I live for a bright red lip, a black dress, and the perfect heel. For me, this continues my list of perfect reds, and I'm so glad my impulse shopping did me RIGHT this time.
